Fashion chronicles. Of African attire and matching outfits.

A recent trend gained popurlarity in Zimbabwe. That of wives and husbands buying African print material and sewing matching outfits. Of course the trend has been seen as a way of two lovers expressing their love for each other through dressing. Others have viewed it as a true sign of growing friendship in relationships. It has been labelled as fun and original.

Several theories have subsequently been formulated with regards to the trend that has taken Zimbabwe by storm. The male species has started viewing it as an indication that the woman is dominating the relationship. They are claiming that man can not be expected to wear something similar to his wife who is presumed to be under his leadership. They claim only men who have been given love portions could agree to such humiliating conduct.

Early this year a video was doing the rounds of a man who was seen walking together with his wife. They were both wearing red African print outfits and the husband was carrying the baby on his back. Touts immediately started shouting that the man had been given a love portion. The video became so popular to the point that the first lady intervened and asked to see the couple. She commended the husband for showing support to his wife.

Matching outfits are now a debatable issue with some saying that they are not a good idea and others moving the motion that they are a great fashion statement between couples. The choice however remains with the individual.
