Who is Romeo?
Romeo Mudimu , is a performing artist, DJ, Composer and Producer with a great passion for music.

What inspired the name DJ Romeo Afro foxy?
As a DJ I decided to use my given name, Romeo,: My Nickname Foxy and my love for African house music which I shortly termed , “Afro”

How difficult was it for you to get in the music industry?
Like any dream, one has to prove themselves before family and friends buy into it, this was my first challenge, to make those around me believe in me and to help me find my feet. To be where I am now.

What or who inspired you to pursue music?
Music from family cultural gatherings and my grandfather who taught me to play the mbira were my first sources of inspiration.

What message do you think your music conveys?
My music conveys messages, about life, determination and love.


What makes your music different?
My inspiration and my upbringing make my music different

How did people receive your new single (Rwendo rwuno)?
The response so far for the single “Rwendo Rwuno”, which means “From this Moment”, has really been great and amazing, well received I must say.

You have an out of this world music video for Rwendo Rwuno. Why did you go to such great lengths?
Driven by a never ending quest for a wow factor, I find myself wanting to work with great film directors for great music videos.

How did you come up with the video concept?
The soundtrack, spoke of airports and planes to me and the Director, Charles Mawungwa led us to the final product that we have.

Would you say it’s the best video to come out of Zimbabwe or one of the best?
It’s the best music video to come out of myself and hopefully it’s one of the best in my home country

What can we expect from you this year?
A project that might feature other artists from different genres.

What would you like to change about the local music industry?
Being at the initial stages of my career my main focus is currently on being the best I can be before I think of changing the local music industry.

Who are your favorite musicians locally and internationally?
Thomas Mapfumo, Shota, Culoe De Song and John Legend are amongst the artist who inspire me

What has been your biggest break or greatest opportunity so far in your musical career?
Finding and working with a Film Director, Charles Mawungwa who understands my work.

Who do you look up to?
I look up to God and the many great men and women that he manifests himself through

It is at the center of marketing and publicity for my music
