When you started Tv Yangu did you think you would ever reach the finals of the Social Media Awards?

Nah man I was content and too consumed in getting my idea going, I never thought of awards and all that. I was chuffed about being nominated though, I know Strive was once nominated but just never got to the finals.

How did the idea of Tv Yangu Come about?

We had done a music video for Chashe after she had come from the States, we were having problems with pushing the video out, to get it air play and I was so frustrated. I then created TV Yangu and Chashe’s video was the first video we posted on TV Yangu.

How do you pick the content that gets on to TV Yangu?

I push what I like. TV Yangu is literal because I push what I like and people seem to like what I like because they keep coming back to our channel.

Explain the concept of Tv Yangu?

TV Yangu is a video and demand platform. We find, we currate, we distribute: music video’s, tv shows, webisodes, documentaries, anything thats trending online from a Zimbabwean perspective! We are trying to show what Zimbabwe can do in a positive manner.

How has the opening of the ZOL spots affected TV Yangu?

Zol spot is the biggest blessing that has happen to TV Yangu, having a reliable internet connection is the first thing you need to get on our platform and Zol is providing that for the people. It has also cut our costs on a major.

What can we expect in 2015?

We have over 100 short films we are holding off from publishing which were made by Invision. So we are having a new section on our site called Cinema Yangu. We also have a couple of Tv shows coming like Mtv Suga which we got from Mtv last year, we also have P.O.Box which is a very funny show and also partnerships with artists which we can’t mention right now.

How or when did you realise you were actually going to make pursue this tv channel in a place where internet is minimum?

I think when we crashed the first time. When our first attempt of TV Yangu failed, I stopped running it and tried out other things but thats when I got this burning desire to make it work.

What have you learnt about pursuing your dreams?

This is a very interesting question. Ok be careful who you deal with, there are blood sucking vampires out there that come in the form of friends, they come to you all lovey dovey but might be out to steal your idea. You also need to be passionate about your dreambecause anyone can have a dream but if you are not passionate then you won’t go far. You will have a lot of opportunities to quit, you will be hungry a lot of times, you will have the opportunity to go to South Africa and get a job in a restaurant so you really need passion.
