Rushid Sumaila Says The Black Stars Will Make It Through

Mamelodi Sundowns centre-back Rashid Sumaila is confident Ghana will beat Algeria and South Africa to qualify for the next round of the Africa Cup of Nations 2015.

Sumaila, who played at the World Cup in 2014, thinks tough luck cost the Black Stars as Christian Atsu’s ball which hit the post could have earned the four-time African champions a win.

“We have what it takes to beat Algeria and South Africa. Even the first game against Senegal hard luck cost us as Atsu’s ball which hit the post could have killed the game,” Sumaila told Goal Ghana.

“We will qualify in a surprise way people will never understand. For me there is not much problem with our defense because we are playing as a team.”

Sumaila added: “So far Ghana have impressed me so much. We played well in the first half and what we should do is to put in more effort in the second half.”

The gangling centre back has returned to his side in South Africa after his loan deal with Ghana giants Asante Kotoko ended.
