Top 10 Reasons Why Zimbabwean Football Is Failing

Zimbabwean football was on the rise in the mid 2000’s! We qualified for Afcon for the first time in 2004 then in 2006. We all thought we were on the rise, we felt as if Zim qualifying for Afcon was now a normal thing. After that we have failed to attain a spot at the competition. Here are some contributing factors:

1. Enviromental instability is one of the major reasons for the continuos downfall of Zimbabwean football

2. The lack of crafting and implementation of comprehensive junior development programmes for clubs and provinces.

3. When money is invested into Zifa, it is evidently used for other things that aren’t what it was meant to be used for.

4. Coaches get fired left right and centre. Alex Ferguson was just a game away from being fired at United when Sir Bobby Charlton told everyone to give him time. At the end of Fergusons career, he was arguably one of the best managers to ever live.

5. Bad administration has played a huge roll in the downfall of Zimbabwean football.

6. Zimbabweans as a nation need to look at the bigger picture and stop pulling each other down.

7. The lack of standards in the beautiful game, e.g some players playing in the Premeir Soccer League are surviving on 50 usd’s a month.

8. Lack of knowledge on how to train our players.

9. Training facilities are inadequate for the level that Zimbabwean football wants to be on.

10. Not enough players are leaving for Europe.
