Duo nabbed over cyclone aid

Two men have been nabbed for allegedly being found in possession of material aimed to provide relief to victims that bore the brunt of the Chimanimani disaster Youth Village can reveal. The duo was allegedly caught in Rusape after a routine search was conducted at a roadblock by the Zimbabwe Republic Police.

The two men were allegedly caught in possession of material such as blankets that may have been meant for Cyclone Idai victims. The development will be worrying in that aid that has been mobised so as to wssist Cyclone victims is ending up in the wrong hands and being transformed into a business venture.

Churches, corporates, schools and various organisations have over the past few weeks shown great compassion for families that were affected by Cyclone Idai which wrecked havoc in Chimanimani. Donations made and the unity exhibited during one of the worst natural disasters to affect Zimbabwe has shown the unity that can exist between Zimbabweans.

It is however disturbing to note tbat a few individuals maybe using the disaster for selfish ends with the nabbing of two men just but an exame of people that may want to take advantage of a situation that is aimed to benefot affected people.
