SoProfound Interview

What has SoProfound been up to in 2015?

Soprofound1
Been working on a number of projects first was The HitchHikers Poetry and Photography exhibition with Paul Brezhnev which happened on the 22nd of January at Koovha Gallery. Working on a number of recorded projects including my debut EP titled Pages From My Heart which is out within the first quarter of the year. All I can say is, a lot of products are on the way and 2015 is going to be a good year!

Do you write the poems that you perform and record or do you have a designated writer?

Soprofound4
I write everything I perform. The writing is what makes one a poet right? I even ghost write for other people.

Explain the concept of your poetry? Where do you draw your inspiration from?

Can’t say there is a specific concept to my poetry as art is very progressive in its nature. As for inspiration, I draw inspiration from a lot of things. I read a lot and watch as much diverse material as I can get my hands on, so as to broaden the scope of my thinking. When all is said and done though, you can put the Word and the Holy Spirit on top of that list of things that inspire me.

If you had to collaborate with any poet of your choice, who would it be and why?

That’s a tough question as I have a lot of favourites, but I think it would be Amena Brown. Why? because I think and deeply feel Her heart is in the right place.

We have noticed a lot of investors have been INVESTING in the country, what would you like to see our government do for the arts?

A lot of things need attention but I would like to see the government invest more in the grassroots and mostly that has a lot to do with the education system having a more involving arts programme.
Also the resuscitation of community centres (the birth place of art).
If you were president for one day what would you change?
I wouldn’t change a single thing because change is not an event, it is a process. So in that regard if I change anything I will not be there to see and monitor it, to complete the cycle of change. So instead I would spend that day learning the system as much as I can so that when my day to be president does come, I know exactly what to do to effect change.

What’s the weirdest thing a fan has ever done to you or for you?

Nothing really, maybe just meeting someone who knows a lot about you it’s even scary, that’s weird right?

What have you learnt about pursuing your dreams?

What I have learnt is to always remember the bigger picture and keep at it.

What do you dislike about fame?

You are like a fish in a glass, the whole world can see you but you can’t see them.

SoProfound has such a cool dress sense, where do you draw your fashion inspiration from?

Can’t say I have something that inspires me but I’m generally a suits and ties guy, so my fashion sense revolves around that whole bit. The goal then becomes how I can make it simple and comfortable but memorable and unique.

Is SoProfound seeing anyone?

Sopround5
I usually like to keep my private life, very private. I hope we can pass for today and answer that next time when I’m more prepared…

How can your fans reach you?
