10 Things You Didn’t Know About The New Miss World Zimbabwe, Emily Tatanga Kachote

The Miss World Zimbabwe took place yesterday at the Mermaid Pool in Shamva and whilst we have a lot to say about the event, from the opening “reading” to the surprise music guests and all the awkward moments in between, let’s gets to know the newly crowned Miss World Zimbabwe Emily Tatanga Kachote for now.

Here’s everything you need to know about your new Miss World Zimbabwe.

1. Emily Kachote comes from Warren Park, she attended Saint John’s Emerald Hills High and later attended Women’s University in Africa where she studied psychology.

2. She started beauty pageants in 2010 after she was scouted by a modelling agency and her first ever win was when she was crowned the Queen for the Wua pageant.

3. While she was at the Women’s University, she won the Miss Women University in Africa contest when she was 22.

4. She drinks 2litres of water every day and likes jogging and doing sit ups to stay in shape. She also likes volleyball.

5. Emily won Miss Harare in 2011 and walked away with $1,500 cash, iPod shuffle, and two bus tickets courtesy of Pathfinder and perfume hampers.

6. Second time is a charm for the beauty as she has entered the Miss World Zimbabwe before in 2012 and wasn’t so lucky.

7. Emily likes designing, she considers herself a fashionista and she designs some of the dresses that she wears.

8. She has followed in previous Miss World Zimbabwe, Malaika Mashandu’s steps after winning both Miss Harare and Miss World Zimbabwe.

9. Emily once revealed in an interview that it’s hard to make a living in Zimbabwe as a model as they get as little as $50-$100 per appearance but won’t sleep with a rich man for a leek lifestyle.

10. The 1,73m tall model is a human rights activist for Zimbabwean youth.
