Napoleon Nyanhi Challenges Zimbabwean Musicians To Show Him A Zimbabwean Music Video Which Compares To This 25 Year Old Video

Like we are always preaching, there’s talent in Zimbabwean music industry but the videos make lets it down. It seems media personality Napoleon Nyanhi aka Napstar to you also shares the same sentiments.

Napstar challenged all Zimbabwean musicians to show him a proudly Zimbabwean video that looks better than Lucky Dube’s 1990 video for “Prisoner”. ” Consider this as you watch the Lucky Dube video: Concept, casting, acting, set design, character development and cinematography…”, said the radio personality.

Well, that would be a hard challenge, to be fair Lucky Dube’s video was not shot in Zimbabwe, but what does that say about creativity in our country? Are we not creative enough to come up with good concepts, set design and good quality videos? Is it the case of budgets?

Some comments suggested it’s the lack of freedom that pulls back artists from creating world class videos to which Napstar replied with, “It’s been almost 15 years Zimbabwe ichitambura saka we haven’t figured how to swim in the muddy waters???”

Isn’t it time we stopped complaining and worked with what we have? What are your thoughts?
