Ruvhi Pari Reacts To The Story Of 28 Teenagers Who Got Arrested At A Nude Party

Like any normal adult would feel, the news about teenagers who were arrested at a nude party is not only disturbing but sad. While most of us can do only a little to help the situation, we appreciate individuals like Ruvheneko Parirenyatwa who have a voice and bigger platforms and choose to use those platforms for a bigger cause.

Ruvheneko aired her concerns and raised some questions on her Facebook page saying what had happened left her head spinning with questions.

Some of the questions she asked were, “who and where are their parents and guardians?”, ” who and where are their teachers and mentors?”

We’d all like to think that their parents didn’t know and are concerned after learning this disturbing matter. Ruvheneko described today’s children as brave, true, we couldn’t agree more. Like she said in her Facebook post, social media has contributed in a big way to some of these problems.

“Appreciate that the amount of people who like your page, or follow you, are not necessarily the number of people who are genuinely and sincerely fond of you. Most ‘likers’ and ‘followers’ are there to watch, monitor, copy (hairstyles, clothes, swag), stalk, criticize, laugh at, find things to create rumors about you, screen-shoot and share. I don’t know where all of this energy comes from. Ndezvavo izvo. While there are others with a more healthy air; who honestly wish there was a ‘love’ and ‘adore’ and ‘sando-dzako’ button to click because ‘Like’ is simply too MILD a sentiment for how much they unashamedly favor you!” she said.

What happened to young people realizing they are enough exactly how they are? Many young kids look for approval of their beauty popularity on social media. They no longer look up to their sisters or anyone relatable to them but try to emulate celebrities from beyond our borders. “It’s how the world is now” she said.

She encouraged parents, guardians, teachers and mentors to monitor young kids and also be exemplary of how they want to see their children behave.

“We need to show them better versions of ourselves, it’s the least we could do”, she said.

We applaud Ruvheneko for the role she plays in helping better young children who are the future of Zimbabwe.
