Zimbabwean Bus Conductor Found With 200 Explosives At Beit-bridge Border Post

Over 200 detonating explosive devices were found in a bus from Harare to Johannesburg at Beitbridge boarder post on Tuesday around 10pm. The explosives belonged to one the bus conductors.

The cords which were wrapped in clothing at the bottom of the bag after Customs detector dog unit member was conducting a search in the bus.

The South African Revenue Services (SARS) said the suspect was in police custody of South African Police Station. “The SAPS explosives unit was called in and the 200 detonating cords were handed over to them” they said in a statement.

The cords, which contain explosives, could be used in criminal activities such as the illegal mining industry, blowing up ATMs.

SARS say they will continue to do everything in its power to ensure that prohibited and restricted goods, such as explosives, are prevented from entering or leaving our country illegally.
