Q: How would you best describe Carol?

A: Self- motivated, dynamic, hard-working, goal oriented and focused.
In a few words!

Q: Did you attend to beauty school and have you always known this is what you wanted to do?

A: Beauty was a result of working with Motives cosmetics. People became aware of me because of that. So to brush up skills and knowledge I became a certified skincare formulator. I never ventured out thinking that I would end up in the beauty industry. I started off in branding which led to working with Motives Cosmetics which then led to my interest in skin care.

Q: How did “Ndanaka” come about?

A: Ndanaka came about because I needed a platform to share everything I was learning and experiencing. And that’s the term a lot of women use in Zimbabwe for some sort of validation. They either ask themselves or someone else or wait for that confirmation. So I thought it was fun to name my platform that and perhaps grow it into something beyond my blog.

Q: Tell us more about AWA.

A: African Women Association is an organization established by Lisa Chiriseri and myself with a desirous to create and recognize new young female role models within Zimbabwe, Africa in general, and the Diaspora.

AWA is committed to the promotion of African history and heritage. We seek to tell the story of  African women and to educate the world on Africa as seen by its own people and not the current proverbial stories on poverty, war, corruption and disease.

We have different platforms under the Association;
• The Awards
Launching in November, nominations are open for the public to submit names on the website,
• The Network,
• The Media
• The Foundation:
Access to Opportunity
Access to Education, Mentorship & Training
Access to Role Models
Access to Infrastructure
• More information on the Association can be found on www.africanwomenawards.com

Q: What other projects are you involved in?

I’m currently working on those two projects. The Association and Ndanaka

Q:  What made you want to do something that will benefit women?

A: I think I’ve always known that I wanted to work with women from a young age. Being raised and surrounded by strong women and knowing the potential we have as women led me down this path.

Q:  Who is your target, Zimbabweans in the UK or any woman?

A: AWA is focused on Africans as a whole whether within the continent or the diaspora

Q: What has been the most rewarding part of what you do?

A: It must be the results! We set a goal and when we achieve it, it’s so rewarding because we see the results of all our hard work and how it changes people’s lives and the lives around them too.

Q: What are your top three essentials for every woman?

A: Hmmm!! If I had to choose for beauty it would be eyeliner, concealer and wipes!
