5 Things You Need To Know Blood Donation In Zimbabwe

There is still a stigma associated with blood donating in Zimbabwe. Most people are still scared to go and donate blood because of what they have heard. Here are some of the facts you need to know about donating blood and savings lives lives through it.

1. When you decide to donate blood at the National Blood Services of Zimbabwe, it does not mean you have to get tested for HIV.

2. Knowing your status is your choice, if you want to know the National Blood Services of Zimbabwe will tell you, if you don’t you just donate blood and leave.

3. The National Blood Services of Zimbabwe is a Blood Bank not a HIV testing centre.

4. If your blood is found to be contaminated, the NBSZ will get rid of it, it will not be used on patients.

5. NBSZ distributes blood on a fee in order to cover the services that include Donor recruitment, blood collection, blood processing, testing, storage, distribution and capital expenses.
