Costa Nhamoinesu shines for Warriors. Zimbabwe vs Guinea Player ratings:

1) Costa Nhamoinesu – 9/10
By far Zimbabwe’s most exciting player on Sunday. The Czech based player never put a foot wrong with some decisive tackles at the heart of Zimbabwe’s defence. Nhamoinesu also did well to retain possession.

2) Willard Katsande – 8/10
Katsande had the crowd on its feet with a 5 star performance at Rufaro stadium. The man affectionately known as “Bute” was impressive in midfield as he won possession regularly thus frustrating Guinea. Apart from his defensive duties Katsande had a high ratio of completed passes often spreading the ball into wide areas where Khama Billiat and Knowledge Musona were stationed.

3) Knowledge Musona – 7/10
Knowledge Musona’s good scoring record for the warriors continued with the smiling assasin grabbing a vital equaliser after breaking the Sylie Nationale offside trap. With a bit of luck Musona could have grabbed a brace but had an impressive free-kick saved minutes from full time.

4) Khama Billiat – 7/10
Although not as lively as what his potential suggests Khama Billiat had a decent outing for the Warriors. As usual Khama often made dangerous runs down the left flank before releasing inviting crosses which found no takers. Billiat was also unlucky not to score with a well taken free-kick just missing the target in the first half.

5) Erick Chipeta – 6/10
Despite being beaten on a few occasions Erick Chipeta looked reasonably solid in the Warriors centre back position.

6) Danny Phiri – 6/10
Danny Phiri did well to complete Willard Katsande. Timely challenges in midfield helped the Warriors often regain possession. Phiri’s greatest contribution was an incisive defence splitting pass which released Musona for a vital equaliser.

7) Cuthbert Malajila – 5/10
Cuthbert Malajila had a below par performance by his standards. Malajila had two clear cut chances that he failed to convert. Apart from the missed chances Malajila looked out of position as he played behind Nyasha Mushekwi.

8) Matthew Rusike – 5/10
Rusike had a decent outing despite having limited time to prove himself after coming on as a second half substitute.

9) Milton Ncube – 5/10
The Ajax Cape Town player had an average outing. Ncube defended well but was not very visible when going forward.

10) Kudakwashe Mahachi -5/10
Kudakwashe Mahachi had an average performance after coming on as a late substitute.

11) Patson Jaure – 4/10
Patson Jaure had a disappointing performance by his own standards. Defensively Jaure repelled Sylie Nationale attacks but the former dembare defenders greatest setback was when going forward. Jaure often got into promising positions down the right flank but poor crossing denied Zimbabwe’s front runners opportunities.

12) Nyasha Mushekwi – 4/10
A lot of expectation lay on Nyasha Mushekwi’s shoulders especially having shone for Djurgadens in the Swedish league. Mushekwi however struggled in Sunday’s encounter against Guinea.

13) Washington Arubi – 3/10
The major talking point was Washington Arubi’s second minute blunder which gifted Guinea an opener. Apart from the second minute mistake Arubi looked jittery throughout the match.
