Frustration for Zimbabwean players in Europe

Wednesday was not the best of days for Zimbabweans plying their trade in Europe. Knowledge Musona’s Belgian club KV Oostende dropped three crucial points on Wednesday when they crashed to a 2 nil home defeat at the hands of Antwerp. Oostende are however still top of the Belgian Prol League log standings with 19 points, 4 more than second placed Anderlecht. Wednesday’s defeat was Oostende’s first loss in five games.

Matthew Rusike is another Zimbabwean player who was on the losing side as Halmstads crashed to a 1 nil loss against Kalmar. Rusike started for Halmstads but was substituted in the 64th minute. Another Zimbabwean in Sweden Tinotenda Kadewere had a frustrating evening as Djurdadens lost 4-2 against IFK Norrkoeping. Kadewere was an unused substitute.

In the Netherlands Marvelous Nakamba’s Vitesse succumbed to a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Heracles in the KNVB Beker knockout tournament on Wednesday evenining. Nakamba started but was among three Vitesse players that were red carded.
