First lady honoured with award.

Zimbabwe’s first lady Auxilia Mnangagwa was recently honoured with an award by the Merck Foundation for her Philanthropic work. She was presented with the award at a summit that is currently underway in Ghana. The award was handed iber to her by Merck founding CEO Dr Tasha Kelwj and chairman Frank Stangenberg-Haverkamp.

The first lady has been actively involved in numerous projects particularly to empower womn from disadvantaged communities. She has been funding self help projects in order to allow women to make a living for themselves.

She was also instrumental in spearheading a campaign bon rasing awareness about cervical cancer. This initiative saw many girls and women being vaccinated against cancer. The first lady was in the forefront of advocating for women to get tested for cervical cancer on a regular basis.

Merck foundation has been involved in a number of projects in African countries Suh as Ghana and Liberia. Some of its projects include cancer awareness, diabetes blue points porject, capacity advancement programme and the Africa -Asia luminary among others.

The core mandate of Merck is to improve the health and well being of people and advance their lives through science and teaching.

Auxillia Mnangagwa has been hailed as the ideal candidate for the award based in her outstanding role in uplifting women and children from poor backgrounds.
