Billiat delighted by Telkom cup triumph

Khama Billiat had few complaints after Mamelodi Sundowns hit three goals past Kaizer Chiefs in the Telkom Knockout Final.

The Brazilians won 3-1 on Wednesday courtesy of strikes from Leonardo Castro, Thabo Nthethe and Hlompho Kekana at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Billiat, who teed up Castro for the opener with a deft touch, said: “It feels great. We were on top of our game and at some point it felt we were not doing okay and they had the ball, but we kept our shape and stuck to the tactics.

“Three goals is enough I think for us to win the Cup,” added the Zimbabwean playmaker.

Billiat’s teammate Kekana was likewise naturally pleased with the result, which was all but sealed with his scuffed shot in the 81st minute.

“It was one of my fluke goals, but we really needed to kill the match and we did that.

“As players we knew Chiefs were a very good team. We knew they would come at us but we were ready to mark and to take our chances and we managed to do that.”
