ICYMI: Oscar Pistorius Found Guilty Of Murder

South African former legend Oscar Pistrorius has been found guilty of murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in the early hours of 2013’s Valentine’s Day.

Pistorius had been acquitted of premeditated murder charges in September 2014, he was later sentenced to five years in prison for his lesser charge of culpable homicide, also known as negligent killing.

“I’m satisfied with everything now, I would hope to God that all of this could have been prevented, but seeing that it has been done, let us now all get on with our lives”, said Reeva’s father after the Supreme Court of Appeal found Oscar Pistorius guilty.

Her mother, June Steenkamp told reporters she wanted respect for her daughter’s life and that’s what she got today. “She hasn’t lost her life for nothing. She’ll be remembered”, she said.

“The legal team will study the finding and we will be guided by them in terms of options going forward. We will not be commenting any further at this stage”, his family said.

The minimum years for murder in South Africa is 15 years.
