How To Keep Your Cool In This Heatwave

Working, studying, sitting around is no fun in this heatwave. It’s nature so how to we go about with our daily lives in this heat? Check out our tips on how to keep your cool in this heatwave.

1. Drink a lot of water and always carry a bottle of water with you.

2. Don’t eat large, protein-rich meals that can increase metabolic heat and warm the body.

3. Avoid alcoholic beverages and caffeine, as both of these substances can act as diuretics and promote dehydration.

4. Avoid public transport at rush hour, not enough seats and a lack of air conditioning means that commuters will often be heard bemoaning public transport during summer.

5. Read more books. Most libraries are air conditioned and open all day. Movies and shopping malls are also a good idea, catch a new flick and stay cool for at least 2 hours. Even better, find a theater near or in an air conditioned shopping mall.

6. Rearrange your schedule. Time your day around the sun’s highest and lowest points in anticipation of any unwanted meltdowns. Complete your daily exercise before 7am, when the sun has not yet fully risen and air is cooler, and aim to leave the office for lunch after 2pm, when queues will be shorter and the sun weaker.
