FC Platinum plots to have Chicken Inn for lunch

By Geronimo News

Chibuku Super Cup finalists FC Platinum are brimming with confidence ahead of their match against Chicken Inn in a rescheduled Castle Lager Premier Soccer League matchday 2 tie on Sunday at Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane.

Initially the matchday 2 games were supposed to have been played last week but could not take off as referees snubbed the matches just before kick-off Amid ZIFA’s suspension drama.

After ending DeMbare’s fairytale in the knock-out tournament last weekend Kugona Kunenge Kudada believes they can do it once more against the well-oiled Gamecocks, who like them, opened this year’s campaign with a win.

The match is expected to be a mouthwatering clash as both teams have been of late displaying good football in the Chibuku Super Cup competition.

Chicken Inn have been one of the most consistent teams in the Zimbabwean Premier League over the years while FC Platinum have been the domestic football headboy for the past three seasons.

During the 2019 campaign the Gamecocks missed out on the championship by three points to finish on second behind the eventual winners FC Platinum who lifted the crown for the third time in a row.

Sunday’s game will see Chicken Inn wanting to settle the scores while the platinum miners who will be under pressure from their supporters will be hoping to continue asserting their dominance on the domestic football scene.

The last time these two great sides met was on August 31, 2019 at Mandava Stadium and the Gamecocks silenced the home team with a 2-1 victory, and will Sunday be a repeat of the same scenario?
