Tuku Speaks On How He Managed To Stay Successful In The Music Industry

The iconic Jazz Legend Oliver Mtukudzi looks like just a simple old man when you don’t know much about him, but when you come to listen to what he sings and the sounds of his guitar you will understand the talent behind the old man however he is that kind of man who acknowledges his music more than the way he looks .

Tuku shares how he managed to stay successful in his music industry and relevant throughout the years and guess what it was simply by originality and the truth however it may sounds simple as it is but many Zim artist are failing to accomplish their dreams in music industry. He said that as long as there are people, there is something to talk about and if there is something to talk about, then there is something to sing about.

In Forty-one (41) years of being in the music industry, he released 64 albums and in his new album collection titled ‘ God Bless You’, he follows his tradition of including  gospel songs in every album and features both original and traditional compositions.Apart from all this success  in Tuku’s music industry he is currently recording two collaboration albums with renowned South African trumpeter Hugh Masekela.

The Legend said, ”I think I managed to keep myself relevant because of the umbrella that covers whatever I talk about in my music. That is self discipline it translates into respecting the next person. So that is what I talk about in the music .

He said that he is open to promote new talents in the music industry but he is not happy with the direction the music industry is taking especially the way songs are composed because the youth take songs from google and compose it and call it composing a song, they are not using their brains .
