Namibia Scratches VISA Requirements For Zimbabwe
Recently the Namibian Embassy announced that the country has scratched all Visa requirements for every SADC member citizen who wishes to travel to Namibia whether on a business trip or on tourism missions.
Speaking at the recent SADC Ministers Convention held at HICC, Namibia’s Minister ICT, Hon. Tjekero Tweya said the move was a strategic calculation meant to provide a free movement region for citizens among SADC member states.
”The Namibian Embassy official further explained that diplomatic passport holders and other legal passport holders will not be required to carry any Visa in order to gain entry into Namibia. Zimbabwe is one of the leading member states of the Southern African Development Community, a diplomatic organization formed as a resource mobilization framework for Southern Africa,” he said .
He added that this is how they celebrate Namibia, but obviously they would also want other SADC member states to follow suit because they want to see cordial relations being strengthened among member states. This move is also meant to promote a culture of Pan African-ism among Southern African countries so as to promote international trade and cultural exchanges.
