Studio 263 Actors And Their Whereabouts
It has been a while since Studio263 has come off our sets. Here’s a catch up of the artists that made us glued every evening and what they are doing now.
Tom Mbambo (Ben Mahaka)
Mahaka is now working in the directing and producing scenes with different production houses in advertising, development communication, corporate and entertainment circles. His latest productions include his work with Kapfupi on television commercials as well as Hope Masike’s video for a song titled ‘Tioneiwo Shewe’.
Jacob Huni (Joe Pike)
Pike is still actively involved in the local film industry. One of his last acts include a role in Lobola which made waves on he local and regional scene. Besides acting, Pike is also a graphic designer, poet, food designer and dancer. He is in fact working on establishing a dance school, a plan which he launched in 2011.
Tendai Jari (Tatenda Mavetera)
After her role in Studio 263, Mavetera made a come back in 2013 when she featured in a local movie called ”The Zimbabwe I Know”. She also featured on Lobola. Besides acting, she has also taken up farming specializing in maize production and she also runs a piggery in the Goromonzi area of Mashonaland East Province.
Dread Welly (Kizito Mawoko)
Kizito is said to be operating a taxi business and occasionally drives the taxi around town ferrying people. He is also into music and has recorded two albums to date at DWP Studios
John Huni (Stephen Chigorimbo)
Chigorimbo is currently CEO of African Sun Motion Pictures Private Limited, a company he founded in 1986 in South Africa. He is also working as a partner at Secure Tec Australasia Private Limited from 2008 to present.
Trevor Davies (Tongayi Chirisa)
Chirisa is one of the former 263 actors that have made greatstrides on the international film scene. After featuring in Studio 263, he went on to star in Tanyaradzwa, Crouse, Sleepy Hollow among others. In 2015, he landed a role in an American comedy, ”The Jim Gaffian Show” which is set to make its debut appearance on Comedy Central. He is currently attached to Hollywood in the USA.
Jabulani Jari (Denzel Burutsa)
Denzel Burutsa ventured into film production after the demise of Studio 263. He has also been doing music video production working with artists such as Sanii Makhalima, Shinsoman and Stunner.
Muwenga (Nevernay Chinyanga)
Following his stint with Studio 263, Chinyanga launched a music career which saw him releasing several songs that were followed up with videos. He was also a part time radio journalist with a local radio station. He eventually moved to South Africa where he unfortunately died of diabetes and heart complications.
Joyce (Tinopona Katsande)
Tinopona Katsande left acting to pursue a radio djing career at ZiFM Stereo. Her career on radio was short-lived. In 2013, she was part of the programme, ‘Celebrities Combine’ which had a mandate to help sick children a project she is still working on
Vimbai (Anne Nhira)
After her groundbreaking success as one of the key actors in Studio 263, Anne tried her hand at singing and went on to release a single titled ‘The One’. She also featured in a South African production called ‘The Rapist’
