The Famous Zimbabwean sculptor of all times, Dominic Benhura who made a statue of President Mugabe has insisted  it was not meant to mock the president. Dominic Benhura Denies Statue Mocks Mugabe.

The social media widely criticized statue recently after it was at the President’s official residence State House on Friday however Benhura responded to the allegations saying that honestly, no-one would abuse such an opportunity.

Tweeters questioned the sculptor’s motives, with some suggesting it was a reaction to being forced to make the statue and he responded saying that sculpture was never meant to look exactly as the president’s image. He doesn’t   do exact figures.

“This is the style I have mastered. My collectors can identify my pieces when they see them anywhere in the world because I chose to be different and that is my signature,” he added.
