It took almost half a decade for Ammara Brown’s debut album. Being a perfectionist the songstress took her time to craft her sound. She had to choose the right producers and collaborators for her first record. She then announced then name for her album dedicated to her fans. Titled ‘Ammartia’, Ammara’s 14 track album is a solid body of work. She shared personal moments to create a project that fans can relate to and enjoy. 1. Akiliz

Think of international female artists who have created female anthems. While ‘Akiliz’ is more about a lover who’s a weak point, Ammara found a connection with a number of female fans. The Afro pop track was produced by two great producers, DJ Tamuka and Takefizzo Fizzo.

2. Khameel’s Kick

Anybody who follows Ammara Brown knows that her son Khameel is the apple of her eye. It’s not surprise that Ammartia would include a dedication to the four year old. The track was produced by MTM’s Chiweddar and Roki. Khameels Kick is playful, upbeat, with mbira instrumentation. Ammara tells Khameel to dance under the sun.

3. Next Lifetime feat. Hugh Masekela

Produced by Simba Moyo the track is a mbira ballad, with African chants. It’s a beautiful song and dance one of Ammara’s best vocal performances. It sounds like a dedication to her late father, or a lost lover. The mbira is very enchanting and even hypnotising. The signature Hugh Masekela feature gives the song a crossover appeal.

4. Wachu Want feat. Chengeto

Out of alll the tracks off Oskid’s 6 Finger riddim, Wachu Want is the best. Ammara shares the stage with baby sister Chengeto who is equally talented. The dancehall track shows off Ammara’s versatility.

5. Mukoko feat. Tytan

Mukoko is the song that crowned Ammara Brown ‘queen’. The Jusa Dementor produced track was one of the biggest Zimbabwean tracks in 2016. It crosses over to other parts of Africa, UK and the rest of the world. The accompanying visuals proved to fans why Ammara Brown is actually one of, if not the best Zimbabwean female entertainer.
