Keeping cool in this sweltering hot weather when you are pregnant might be a big challenge. The baby bump may make you feel sluggish and extra hot but we have compiled some hands on tips to keep you and your little one cool this summer.

Choose your clothes with care. Synthetic ,clingy fabrics might leave you feeling sweaty. Rather opt for cotton fabric or some trendy kaftans. Do not squeeze your feet into tight,closed shoes. Wear some flip flops or other open and light shoes.

2.Instead of snacking on salty or packaged foods go for light,refreshing, thirst quenching as well as energising foods. These include fruit such as strawberries, mango, grapes and watermelon. Eat lollies, sorbets and cold drinks.

3. Take a plunge and dive into the swimming pool. Going for a swim can improve your health as well as cool you down when you are pregnant.

4. Drink lots of water and fluids. Stay hydrated.

5. Invest in good skincare. Skin is nature’s way of helping the body lose heat so keep it cool by spraying some water. A paper fan can also be effective. Keep your face and lips moisturised with a good quality skin product to prevent chapped lips and dry skin.

6. It is ideal to keep your hairstyle short and simple. A ladies cut is also trendy and light. Long hair can be tucked into a hair slide or swept up into a trendy bun.

7. Take some time to chill. Your pregnancy coupled with the heat can make you feel drained. Having to carry around extra weight and a big belly in this heat can sap up your energy. It is important to relax and chill.
