PSL return set for October

The country’s flagship football competition will finally resume in October after the custodians of the competition, the Premier Soccer League (PSL) released a provisional resumption calendar for the season.

December 15, 2020 marked the end of the PSL season and ever since then there has been no meaning football action until May this year when the Chibuku Super Cup tournament was hosted for only one month before it was suspended again in June.

Following serious efforts coupled with the dwindling COVID-19 cases, PSL has finally brought hope to football stakeholders with October 30 as the set date for the top flight competition matchday 1 fixtures.

In a letter dated 15 September 2021, PSL Chief Executive Officer Kenny Ndebele urged clubs to use the proposed information for planning purposes ahead of the much-awaited resumption of the domestic league.

Before the top tier competition, PSL has also noted that the Chibuku Super Cup tournament will continue as planned starting on the 29th of September 2021.

The development has not only brought a huge sigh of relief to football enthusiasts who have been yearning for the return of their most favourite sport for a couple of months now but also to the newly appointed Warriors technical set-up which was going to be limited for choice when it comes to national team players selection.

Meanwhile, premiership clubs are already in full swing as they prepare for the Chibuku Super Cup competition.
