HIFA Starts A Fundraising Campaign For 2017 Edition

HIFA has started a fundraising campaign under the banner ‘HIFA MUST HAPPEN’ for the 2017 edition.

According to HIFA executive, director  Tafadzwa Simba, HIFA returns at a difficult time in the country. The socio-economic challenges currently faced by Zimbabwe has had a severe impact on ability of the festival’s funders to support it like they used to. The last edition of the Harare International Festival of the Arts was in 2015 and took a hiatus due to financial constraints.

The festival is inviting the public on their mission to make HIFA happen in 2017. Like their theme ‘Staging an intervention’, HIFA has set a target if USD100,000 to host this year’s edition. The money raised will go towards paying artists – who are performing at low fees to support the Festival.

Well wishers can contribute to the crowdfunding initiative which has already started. To help support the fetival individuals can share the link as well as buy tickets. HIFA is calling everybody to get involved so that HIFA happens this year.

The Harare International Festival of the arts is scheduled to be held from May 2 to 7 2017.
