It is safe to say that Jah Prayzah’s ‘Mdhara Vachauya’ is the most covered Zimbabwean song to date. Contemporary singer and songwriter Gemma Griffiths shared her interpretation of the hit single.

Gemma gives the Afro Pop single an indie tone with her soulful, husky vocals. In the video she can be seen sitting by the piano playing a ballad version of ‘Mdhara Vachauya’. She blends Shona and English whilst sharing her interpretation of the song.

The video was released on Friday and already has over 3,000 views. Knowing Gemma who has done other covers, this number will quickly increase.

Gemma Griffiths who is currently based in South Africa became very popular after her cover of Winky D’s ‘Musarova Bigman’. She went on to cover Cynthia Mare’s ‘Rimwe Zuva’.
