1.Leafy Greens

Leafy green vegetables are packed with nutrients including vitamins however they can be filled with hazardous bacteria. Green veggies such as lettuce, spinach, kale, and other leafy greens have been accounted for a number of food outbreaks. This is due to where the vegetables are grown especially in areas where there is livestock. To prevent getting sick due to leafy greens, wash your vegetables thoroughly under running water before you eat them. Avoid salads prepared in stores.

2. Eggs

Eggs are high in proteins and have been used for a number of home remedies for the skin and hair. However eggs are also a potent breeding ground for salmonella. Thoroughly wash potatoes before preparing them for a meal. Bake potatoes directly so that the heat kills C. botulinum and consume potato based salads immediately.

Peanuts are high in protein but can also contain salmonella. Peanuts also contribute to a number of food allergies which can be harzadous to an individual’s health. Take caution on where you get your peanuts from and always check labels on peanut butter jars. If you notice allergic reactions to peanuts avoid consuming peanuts completely.

5. Milk

Most milk sold in stores is pasteurised and often come with use before instructions. However there are instances where people consume raw milk which is said to be highly nutritious. However raw milk can contain a number of food borne pathogens including Listeria, Salmonella, E. coli and Campylobacter. These can cause a range of illnesses including diarrhea all the way to still birth in pregnant women, meningitis, kidney failure and even death. Always make sure to consume only pasteurised milk. If you are lactose intolerant, avoid milk products altogether.
