10 Things You Didn’t Know About Chengeto

The Brown clan is one of the biggest in Zimbabwean music and Chengeto is one of the stars. Having turned a year older on 21 June, the young lady is following in the same footsteps as her famous parents and sister. Chengeto Brown has been showing that she has all the qualities of a star while taking her own path. Chengeto has vocal pipes for days, she’s a talented songwriter, mbira player and guitarist. She is the daughter of iconic Zimbabwean singer Andy Brown. While most of who she is is public knowledge, here are 10 things that you probably didn’t know about Chengeto.
1. Chengeto discovered he passion for music at the tender age of 4.
2. Her mother the late Chiwoniso Maraire is her greatest musical influence.
3. If she wasn’t a musician she would probably be a social worker because she loves helping people.
4. She would love to work with Takura , Tamy , Nutty O, AKA and Nasty C amongst many other artists.
5. She would love to perform at Coachella festival and fill up Rufaro stadium.
6. Chengeto doesn’t like to be boxed in genres and she can rap.
7. She now prefers to be called just Chengeto as an artist. She explained that she wants to be known as the individual that she is rather than by her family name.
8. She has become a fitness fan having lost weight in the past few years.
9. She is part of an independent, eclectic group of artists called Veryus.
10. She is an independent artist who released two singles in 2017 including ‘Nightym Luv’, a reggaeton single as part of Veryus.
