Throughout the past three years, Dhadza D has established himself as one of the most popular Dancehall artist in the Zimbabwe. In fact, with three No. 1 singles and five top 10 hits in Zim. On his journey to the top, Dhadza D  has became the Shoko Festival Ambassador and in addition he has been nominated for the best Live Performer award.

Here are the top five things you might not know about him below…

1. Dhadza was born Darlington Zhanje in 29 September 1993

2. Dhadza music career started when he was still at primary school at a very young age of 10 when he played “marimba” for the school club. The school authorities allowed him to play the instrument even though kids at his age were not allowed to do so.

3. After school, he then went on to sign a record deal with Topshatta Records that saw him subsequently releasing his debut album, “Welcome Prince Ah Fire”, which carried a number of hit tracks such as “Dont get stuck” and “Chikosoro” both which made it in the Zimbabwe Top 20 for a number of weeks. This marked the turning point of Zimbabwe to become what it is today.

4. His music had become so popular that he made a debut appearance at Book Cafe in February 2014 as a main act. The Book Cafe hosts big names such as Oliver Mtukudzi.

5. The “Prince of Fire” as Dhadza is also known by his fans was in February 2014 among the five artists who were appointed the Shoko Festival ambassadors for their contribution to the arts industry.
