Doctors’ opinions and diagnosis vary and at times it’s good to get more than one opinion. By nature human beings are bound to make mistakes and doctors likewise can do just that. Although you trust your doctor there are certain circumstances where you need to confirm through other doctors. Even if your second opinion just confirms what you already know, it can still be beneficial. It will also gove you pece of mind and also offer insight into additional treatment options that the first doctor may not have mentioned. Note that the second opinion is not necessarily the right opinion. What is important to know is when to seek a second opinion. Below are the five times that you should seek a second opinion.

1. If you have undergone treatment but your symptoms continue.

If your symptoms are persistent even after treatment, it may be time to seek the advice of different doctors and specialists.

4. If you are diagnosed with cancer.

A center diagnosis is life-changing hence you need to be sure and well informed about your diagnosis, treatment and prognosis.

5. If your gut reaction tells you something is off.

Sometimes your best and first doctor is your gut instinct. If you are uncomfortable with your diagnosis or treatment then get a second opinion.
