Zimbabwean Thaiwanda Thai Produces For Kenyan Singer
South African based, Zimbabwean producer, dancer and artist Thaiwanda Thai has been making some strategic pan African moves of late. After producing for Nigeria’s Ycee, he has looked East of Africa to team up with Kenyan songstress Yvonne Darcq. His latest production is titled ‘Fearless’ and the video that accompanies the track was directed by renowned South African director Justin Campos.
‘Fearless’ is Yvonne Darcq’s first single after a hiatus and is a move to the next level of her career. The video showcases the African savannah with traditionally dressed Kenyan men draped who back up Yvonne with her choreography.
Yvonne Darcq is a multi-lingual Pan-African singer who is of French and Sudanese heritage. Yvonne said in the Nairobi Wire,” It has been such a long journey but finally I am moving to the next level of my career with the rebirth of the brand DARCQ. Fearless is my first single because I had to break free of fear and just go confidently in the direction of my dreams.”
“The song is “dedicated to all the Africans that are doing amazing things, being fearless and challenging the status quo that Africa is poor, undeveloped, uneducated, uninspired,” she added.
Though underrated on the local scene, Thaiwanda Thai has worked with a number of heavyweights in South African hip hop including Riky Rick, Cassper Nyovest, Zulu Boy, Stilo Magolide, Reason and KLY to name but a few. Thaiwanda earler this year joined local rapper Tehn on his ‘Tehn Outta Ten’ nationwide tour alongside Ammara Brown and Simba Tagz. He also featured on Tehn’s hit single ‘No Stress’ off the album ‘A Few Good Poems’.
