Former Zimbabwe cricket captain Brendan Taylor has been selected to play in inaugural South Africa T20 Global League. Taylor was selected by the Stellenbosch Monarchs as the 10th round pick. The Draft was completed in Cape Town on Sunday with eight teams selected.
32 international players and 96 local players were picked by the various franchises. Big names are lined-up to play and coach in the tournament. Each franchise had already been allocated both a big-name marquee Protea player and an international marquee player.
The T20 Global League will be played in eight cities across South Africa in November and December. The eight teams will include Benoni Zalmi, Bloem City Blazers, Cape Town Knight Riders, Jo’burg Giants, Durban Qalandars, Nelson Mandela Bay Stars (Port Elizabeth), Pretoria Mavericks and Stellenbosch Monarchs.
