The Zim Hip Hop Awards makes its return to the city of Kings for this year’s edition. The award show are always a cause for conversation and controversy but it doesn’t stop the movement. The award show organizers have announced that Bulawayo will be the hosting city.
The organizers posted on their Facebook page:
“We are pleased to announce that the 7th edition of the Zim hip hop awards will be held in the city of kings Saturday 9 Dec. Get your submissions in.”
The Zim Hip Hop Awards have mostly been hosted in the capital city and often caused tensions. Calvin has been one of the few hip hop artists from Bulawayo to be nominated for a few years now. It was only in 2016 when he didn’t win anything despite leading the nominations.
However, Bulawayo is fast becoming the go-to city for authentic hip hop artists with the likes of German based Awa Khiwe, Asaph and Guluva7 gaining traction.
It will be interesting what this year’s edition will be like after the Zim Hip Hop summit which will be held at Shoko Festival.
More details about the awards will be announced in preparation for December.
