Zimbabwe Has The Highest Usage Of Condoms In The World

Zimbabwe has come on top of the highest usage of condoms in the world according to the Zimbabwe National Aids Council.

The NAC’s Director of Monitoring and Evaluating Mr Amon Mpofu said this has contributed to the reduction of HIV infections. The data was collected in partnership with the United Nation Population Fund (UNFPA).

“We are the highest consumers of condoms in the world current, that is why we have realized the reduction in HIV infection rates. We had 104 million male condoms and 5.2 million female condoms distributed in 2014 alone”, said Mr Mpofu.

A recent study shows that a lot of Zimbabwean men are afraid to go for HIV testing. Mpofu encouraged all Zimbabwean men to go for HIV screenings.

The reduction in infection rate is good for Zimbabwe which has just over 1,4 million people living with the virus.
