7 Natural Ways to Whiten Your Teeth

The ideal perfect smile consists of bright white teeth. A lot of people spend a lot on whitening treatments. Teeth become discolored due to stains that develop on the surface of teeth. The discolouration also goes deep into the teeth. While getting proffesional treatment might be pricey there are natural ways to achieve pearly whites. Below are 7 natural ways to whiten your teeth.

1. Brush after consumption of food and drink

While this may be challenging at times, it’s important to brush your teeth after food. This is even more important if you consume foods that stain teeth such as coffee.

2. Baking Soda and Hydrogen Peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide is an antibacterial agent. Use half water and half hydrogen peroxide, swish around in your mouth for about one minute, and then rinse. Alternatively, mix a small amount of hydrogen peroxide with a small amount of baking soda in order to make a paste that helps remove more plaque from teeth. You can achieve the best results  by brushing your teeth first.

3. Coconut Oil Pulling

Coconut oil has been credited for its many healing and soothing properties. With a spoonful of coconut oil, take it and swish it in between your teeth for five to 20 minutes. You can also add a few drops to your toothbrush and brush it on.

4. Use Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar also known as ACV is a natural antibiotic. Due to it’s acidity levels ACV  kills germs as well as removing stains from your teeth. It’s important to brush with normal toothpaste after brushing with ACV, or rinse your mouth out well. Take your finger and rub apple cider vinegar on your teeth for about one minute.

5. Lemon or Orange Peels

Due to the acids found in citrus fruits, it seems that lemon and orange peels can help whiten teeth. Use lemon or orange peel on your teeth and  rinse your mouth afterward.


6. Fruits

Fruits such as strawberries and even apples can help whiten your teeth.

7. Activated Charcoal

Activated charcoal is believed to help whiten teeth. This is because charcoal absorbs plaque hence cleaning teeth. Bush teeth as normal by wetting a toothbrush and dip into powdered activated charcoal.
