Top 5 Zim Producers of 2017

Behind every great hit song is an extremely creative producer. Every year there’s a crop of beat makers who create the sound of the year. Their production can boost unknown artists onto the mainstream. Or their beats can give relevance to we’ll known stars. Check out which Zimbabwean music producers were on top of their game.

1. DJ Tamuka

Tamuka just stepped into 2017 with the aim to win. Most of his productions were for his Military Touch Movement stable. However he did spread out his wings working with a number of mainstream artists. Think of hits Chekeche, Akiliz, Nhema and Bugatti to name but a few.

2. Mr Kamera

Tatenda Kamera a.k.a Mr Kamera, has always been Zimbabwe’s pan African producer. He released his own track ‘Pamusika’ at the beginning of the year. The remix to the single featured super producer Gemini Major and Nigeria’s Ice Prince. Mr Kamera also co-produced for Mr. Eazy, Dotman, Victoria Kimani, Roberto, Bryan K and Cynthia Mare.

3. Simba Tagz

Ever since signing to Universal Music Group Africa, Simba Tagz has the world in his hands. In 2017 he has predominantly been working with a lot of Nigerian artists. Back at home, he worked on music for Tehn, Ammara Brown, Tkae Chidz,Marques, to name but a few.

4. Take Fizzo

In the hip hop and Afro Pop realm, Take Fizzo was dominating. The iconic Zimbabwean producer worked on a lot of albums for Tehn, Few Kings, Ammara Brown, Tulk Munny, MC Chita.

5. Reverb7

The Afro house heavyweight put a touch of his sound on a lot of work. Reverb7 worked with a variety of artists from different genres. He himself released six compilation albums in 2017 alone.
