Leonard Mapfumo is part if the group of pioneers of Zimbabwean urban music. Leonard, like David Chifunyise, Ex Q and Stunner, were one of the few artists to make rapping in vernacular cool. While he is still considered an urban grooves artist, Leonard Mapfumo is better known for his rap skills. Born on January 30, 1983, Leonard’s career took off in 2002 with the hit ‘Seiko’. Alongside Roki, they released the debut album titled ‘R&L’. This has been followed by four solo albums. In 2003, ‘Seiko’ won a NAMAS award. Leonard Mapfumo to date has four number one hits on the national charts. He has a career spanning over a decade and has worked with many local artists. 1. Seiko

A favourite for a lot of people, Maidei featured Ex Q. The track about an unfaithful ex, Leonard and Ex Q had some of the beat lyrics on the Pasada inspired track.

Leonard Mapfumo decided to do rendition of a classic Zimbabwean song. A Leonard Zhakata (how ironic!), track, Leonard added rap verses whilst Pauline from M’afriq sang the hook.
