Slikour And What To Expect From The Zim Hip-Hop Summit

Shoko Festival this year upped their game by hosting the inaugural Zim Hip-Hop Summit. The one-day convention will be held on 30 September o discuss the state of hip-hop in Zimbabwe. The summit will be hosted at the Harare Library opposite the National Museum.

The summit is a brainchild of hip-hop promoter, Plot Mhako in partnership with German-based femcee Awa Khiwe and South African based editor and rapper Darryl Nyamutsamba.

The summit will see artists and other stakeholders converge to discuss the state of the hip-hop culture and industry in the country. The Summit is made up of 3-panel discussions that will explore important aspects of the Zim hip-hop industry. Each panel will have highly expert panelists who will share their knowledge on the given topics.

The panelists will include Stunner, Cal_Vin, Tehn Diamond, DJ Mox (Star FM),  ZiFM’s The Fixxx hosts Lady K, PD The Ghost, videographer Blaqs, ZIMURA director Polisile Ncube, Phil Chard (The African Hip Hop Blog), Keisha Thompson (UK), Rafael Tudesco (Brasil), Mambila Mageza (from In Place of War), beatboxer Probeatz, Joel Gombera amongst others.

Joining the panel is multi-award winning South African hip hop musician and businessman Siyabonga Metane a.k.a Slikour.

Known for his popular blog, Slikour On Life, Slikour one of the founding members of the iconic South African Hip Hop group, Skwatta Kamp. He has also achieved a successful solo career. He is co-owner of South Africa’s leading artist management company Buttabing Entertainment which groomed Kwesta amongst other notable artists.

Topics of discussion include- the state of Zimbabwe’s hip-hop industry, the business of hip-hop, Lyricism, conflict and free expression.
