Zimbabwe Signs Major Aviation Trade Agreement

Zimbabwe signed on to the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM). Zimbabwe joined 22 other African countries to allow free access to their airports.

The agreement will allow the airlines of signatory countries to freely access each others’ airports.

The countries include Zimbabwe, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Republic of Congo, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa Swaziland and Togo.

The deal seems to be a great way of reducing airfares and increase the number of direct air connections between African countries.
