Commando Bullets hold Golden Eagles

Commando Bullets played party spoilers as they held Golden Eagles to a 2 all draw in an entertaining Ruyamuro Northern Region Soccer league clash at Ellis Robbins High School on Saturday.

In a game which began at a high tempo it was Commando Bullets who were the first to draw first blood after a set piece culminated in Charles Murisa producing a stunning strike as early as the 5th minute. Golden Eagles almost gave an instant response but Albert Nyamutsamaka spurned a glorious opportunity after getting into a promising position.

The hosts continued to pile on the pressure and were duly rewarded when Lindell Mupfumisi flighted in a a curling corner kick which was bundled home by Raymond Uchena.

With the momentum having swung in Golden Eagles favour the hosts would grab a second following a sweeping move which eventually led to Lloyd Nyamadzawo scoring past his own goalkeeper.

Despite being a few minutes away from heading to the half-time break carrying a 1 goal lead, Commando Bullets once again produced some magic in the attacking third with Irvine Jelele firing home an effort which went beyond the reach of Golden Eagles goalminder Lloyd Majarira.

In the second stanza neither side could grab a 3rd despite Claude Mapoka’s free-kick going just over the bar while Tatenda Hapazari spurned a glorious opportunity while a few yards away from goal.

After the match Joel Luphahla was visibly dissapointed with his sides performance, “It’s a disappointing result, but I am proud of my boys they keep battling everyday. The games that we are playing are always difficult. Every team that plays against Golden Eagles always raises their game so it is like we are playing a cup final every week”.

Luphahla’s counterpart Irvine Chirume was on the other hand satisfied with the result, “Our performance was excellent, they played according to my instructions because I told them to come here to attack and defend as a team and it worked out”.
