5 reasons why Dynamos will not win a 5th consecutive league title:

By Brian Chifamba

1. New Coach

Callisto Pasuwa over the last four seasons molded a balanced team that boasted of a rock solid defence, creative midfield and competent strike force. The ability to immediately come up with a complete team will be a huge job on David “Yogi” Mandigora’s hands. The need to come up with a all-round performances coupled up with introducing a system that players will be immediately able to adapt to is among the challenges that confront Mandigora in the 2015 season.

 2. New backroom staff

The fall of top performing teams has often been attributed to an overhaul in the coaching department upon the departure of the head coach. It is a same case scenario at Dynamos where the departure of Callisto Pasuwa saw the ushering in of a completely new backroom staff including Assistants Tonderai Ndiraya and Biggie Zuze as well as goalkeepers coach Gift Muzadzi.

The only person to survive the chop was team manager Richard Chihoro. Continuity is a fundamental aspect of ensuring continued success but the ushering in of a completely new backroom staff is feared to be a major factor that may see Dynamos surrendering the league in the year 2015.

 3. Loss of key players

Dembare’s dominance in the past four league campaigns was underpinned by the ability to hold on to key personnel as well as snap up players that added value to the Dynamos squad. The departure of Ronald Chitiyo and Themba Ndlovu will be a big blow to the Dynamos family. Themba Ndlovu left for Harare City while Ronald Chitiyo departed for South Africa where he will be playing in South Africa’s second tier Mvela league.

 4. Other sides determination

Dynamos established their dominance after winning 4 out of 4 league crowns since 2011. Making it 5 out of 5 is highly unimaginable given the hunger of other success starved team’s such as Highlanders and Caps United. ZPC Kariba will also want to prove that their fairy tale run in the 2014 season was no fluke when they battle for local football’s biggest prize in the 2015 season.

 5. Non-Participation in the champions league

Dynamos will for the first time in the last four years not be competing in the Caf champions league after failing to acquire funds required to finance their involvement on the African Safari. As a result the glamour boys have not been as aggressive on the transfer market where they have only managed to lure Godknows Murwira and Kelvin Bulaji.

Previous seasons were built on the hunger to acquire new players with the knowledge that competing in the champions league required quality players. Inactivity on the African safari will therefore be a worrying factor as Dembare’s executive may perhaps be more reluctant to land as many acquisitions as they would have when competing in the champions league.
