In 2012 two radio stations emerged. ZiFM Stereo made history as the first commercial radio station. On 15 August at 12 midday, ZiFM broke ground with diverse and new talent. The radio station celebrates another year in the industry. The station has brought out some of the biggest personalities. These include Misred, Danny that Guy, Candice Mwakalyelye to name but a few. Below are 10 things that you might have not known about ZiFM Stereo.

1. It is the first radio station to broadcast using a mobile application, so that anyone can access even in London, Washington DC or Perth.
2. The station also became the first in Zimbabwe to stream online.
3. Since its inception, the station had been commended for its unique programming and reportage of unbiased news. In 2013, it won a Victor’s award in the ‘Fast Growing Radio Station’ category.
4. ZiFM is the first privately owned radio station in Zimbabwe.
5. The broadcast center of ZiFM Stereo has a shape which looks like Great Zimbabwe ruins.
6. ZiFM CEO Susan is credited for grooming young and talented broadcasters like Tino Chimbetete, Makanaka Wakatama, Oslie Muringani, Rhymes.
7. Tonderai TK Katsande is the ZiFM stereo Station Manager.
8. In 2014 ZiFm was named in the top 20 African radio station ratings.
