Zimbabweans React to New Cabinet

Post the 2018 parliamentary and presidential elections, many Zimbabweans awaited the cabinet. On Friday 7 September 2018, President Emmerson Mnangagwa announced a new 20-member Cabinet. He also appointed Deputy Ministers and 10 Provincial Affairs Ministers. The appointments were made in terms of Section 104 (1) of the Constitution.

The new cabinet surprised many Zimbabweans as a number of ‘old’ ministers were not appointed. There were a number of new names in the cabinet. Many Zimbabweans were looking for representation for mainly youth and women. Out of the 45 appointed ministers, there are 16 women appointed across the board. Below are some of the reactions to the new cabinet:
