Bongo Maffin perform at SAFTA awards

Zimbabwean artist Jah Seed and the group Bongo Maffin on Saturday perfoemed at the South African Film and Television Awards to the delight of the audience that attended the event. The group performed the song titled “Harare” much to the satisfaction of those in attendance.

Jah Seed who was born and bred in Zimbabwe was hugely responsible for the release of a track which speaks about Zimbabwe’s capital. Jah Seed who was bred in Zimbabwe attended Waddilove High School before pursuing a musical career in South Africa where he rose to fame for releasing several top tracks which topped the charts across the Limpopo.

Bongo Maffin had gone for some time without releasing new music before reassembling for the release of the track “Harare” late last year. The legendary Afro-fusion band comprises of Stoan, Thandiswa Mazwai, Jah Seed and Speedy.

Though dominantly South African, Mbare born member Jah Seed (real name Anesu Mupemi) has been instrumental in their cross cultural reach and Shona inspired compositions including “Mari YePhepha”, and “Kura Unone”.
