Ruvheneko’s social media drama

Popular radio personality Ruvheneko Parirenyatwa has emerged as a one of the latest victims of cyber bullying with what appeared a harmless post ending up in her being subjected to cyber bullying.

Ruvheneko recently posted on her twitter page, ‘I met Munashe when she was in form 1 through FAWEZI. Now she is in lower 6, she lost both her parents when she was too young. I have sponsored her through school and would love to continue supporting her financially, emotionally and spiritually as she pursues her dream of one day becoming a doctor’.

The innocent post however ended up becoming a big issue with many users on twitter accussing Ruvheneko of self praise despite the fact that she was raised from a family where she enjoyed several privelages.

Ruvheneko tried to defend herself but has ended up being subjected to a string of negative comments in what appears as being a case of character assasination.

Cyberbullying is bullying that takes place over digital devices like cell phones, computers, and tablets. Cyberbullying can occur through SMS, Text, and apps, or online in social media, forums, or gaming where people can view, participate in, or share content. Cyberbullying includes sending, posting, or sharing negative, harmful, false, or mean content about someone else. It can include sharing personal or private information about someone else causing embarrassment or humiliation. Some cyberbullying crosses the line into unlawful or criminal behavior.

Cyber bullying has emerged as a huge cause of concern in Zimbabwe with some bullies often making use of pseudo accounts. Even prominent politicians such as Professor Jonathan Moyo have stood accussed of Cyber bullying with Tsitsi Masiyiwa, the wife of prominent business person Strive Masiyiwa at one point accussing Jonathan Moyo of cyber bullying.
