Warriors captain in injury scare

Zimbabwe national soccer team captain Knowledge Musona is battling to be fit in time for the Warriors Africa cup of nations group G qualifier against Congo Brazzaville this Sunday.

Musona sat out the warriors Wednesday afternoon training session amid concern about his availability in Sunday’s clash against Congo. The Smiling assasin has a groin strain and with a few days to go before Sunday’s encounter, rest appears to be the most viable option for Musona.

The Belgian based forward was part of Zimbabwe’s warm up on Wednesday afternoon but when it came to intense workouts, Musona had to be pulled out of training and allowed time to rest.

Musona is expected to be a key figure for the warriors if certified fit to play in Sunday’s encounter against Congo Brazzaville. Already missing from the Warriors squad is Marvelous Nakamba who is nursing an injury sustained while playing for his Belgian side Club Brugge.

Zimbabwe need to at least draw Sunday’s game against Congo Brazzaville in order to book a berth at the Afcon finals to be held in Egypt.

If Zimbabwe progress to the Afcon finals it will be the 4th time they woukd have done so as Sunday Chidzambwa seeks to become the first coach to guide the Warriors to the Afcon finals on two occassions.
