Zimdancehall vs Sungura clash on the cards

The 6th of April 2019 will be a historic day in music circles. A clash between Zimdancehall artists and Sungura artists has been slated for this day at DZ stadium.

This has never been done before in Zimbabwe. If anything there has been sour relations between artists in the two music genres. Sungura has always been the top music of choice for most people but with the advent of zimdancehall music there has been stiff competition.

Sungura artists expected to rouse feathers of their opponents include Kapfupi and Jah Prayzah whilst the Zimdancehall acts will include Soul Jah love and Seh Calaz.

The clash promises to be explosive as it is clearly a battle of music greats in Zimbabwe. Artists from both music genres will have a point to prove and would want to be crowned the leaders in entertainment in Zimbabwe.

Although Sungura music has always been regarded as more sensible and appealing to the local audience rather than Zimdancehall which has been labelled as full of noise and nonsense, the clash will certainly point out the best in the business. Zimdancehall seems to have gained popularity of late and enjoys wide spread airplay.

In spite of critisicm about its relevance zimdancehall has in fact been known to highlight day to day struggles of ordinary citizens. Sungura on the other hand has always been the music with a message. It shall be a night to remember as musicians bring their A game on the 6th of April. The clash has shown how musicians are embracing each other’s craft unlike in the past where such events were unheard of.
